Student Story: Denis

My name is Denis Murphy. I am 62 years of age this year. I returned to adult education because I didn’t have any internet skills and I really wanted to learn about computers and what I could do when I could use one.

It was hard at first but when you use them at the centre the tutors are very helpful. If you get stuck on something they show how to solve it.

I found out that you can fill out forms for your medical card or a driving licence and book tickets for train trips or travel abroad online. These are some of the things I want to be able to do in the future.

At the moment I have done my Word Processing and Communications Level 4 and I am about to finish my Internet Skills course. I hope for the future that I can complete my QQI level 4 on the computer.

No one is left behind.

I would like to thank the tutors for getting me this far and all their help when I got stuck. So if you want to learn how to use a computer don’t be afraid no matter what age you are. The tutors will show you at your own pace. No one is left behind. It’s just one big family inside and everybody will be so welcome.
