Coming back to education was a good experience for me. Looking back, coming in to the centre at the time was a bit scary for me. I was 51 years of age at the time. I went to Mountjoy Square to a place called DALC. It took me a while to find it but I did.

I found my courage to go in to the centre and talk to people inside. I was very nervous and had no idea what to expect but they were very nice and put me at ease. The first couple of weeks was a bit difficult and as time went on things got easy. I started to talk to other students and mixing with lots of people who had the same problems as I had.
Over the next couple of years I learned a lot from my tutors who were very supportive of me and helped me in lots of ways. I have achieved a lot that I thought I could never do and the confidence I got from listening to other students and tutors was brilliant. I can now have a conversation. I can sit down with grandchildren and do their homework with them. What I am saying is that I have a good mind and I am in a better place.
So anybody who is thinking of going back in to education, I would encourage them to do so and take the next step!
